Hearts & Hooves was given a special treat when Buddy Jewell visited on July 23. Buddy Jewell burst onto the country music scene in 2003 when he won the coveted title of USA Network's first ever Nashville Star. He was in town to sing, but took time out to visit our riders and horses to help promote the 10th Annual Hearts & Hooves Hoedown to be held November 6th. Buddy will be providing live entertainment at this year’s Hoedown. We quickly learned that he has a heart of gold and that we are tremendously lucky to have him as a friend of the program. See for yourself what an amazing person he is by visiting his website at www.buddyjewell.com or you can just look at the attached pictures to see the joy he brings!

Many of our special equestrians attend ACCESS Academy, a private school for students with language learning differences. On July 20, the ACCESS Adventurers raised over $600 for the Hearts & Hooves’ horses by washing cars and selling cookies and lemonade. This just goes to show you that everyone has something that they can do for others! We really appreciate the hard work and efforts that these students displayed to make our horses happier and healthier! These funds will be used to purchase special nutrients that the horses need to withstand the heat as well as providing the beginnings of a sensory “enrichment” paddock for the horses. Visit www.accessgroupinc.org to find out more about ACCESS Academy. |

Larry Betz led his Little Rock Kickball League through another successful kickball tournament. The Big Red Ball Gala kicked off the tournament with competitors and supporters meeting at Next Level Events for camaraderie, silent auction and libations! The Great THV Kickball Tournament started the next day with teams from several states competing for the tournament title. Our sincerest thanks to these fun-loving individuals who began supporting the program with the first tournament in 2005, doing what they love so that our riders can do what they love! Since that time, the kickballers have raised over $80,000 for our special equestrians! To learn more of the LRKA, visit www.lrkickball.com. |
